The Best Turkey Chili You’ll Ever Eat – and It’s Dairy, Egg, and Gluten Free

We use our instant pot to do the initial browning and sautee, but you can use a saucepan if you wish, then transfer it to your slow cooker. So in theory, you can prep everything the night before, then the morning of, throw it into your slow cooker before work, set the timer, and go.

Anyway, back to the recipe overview. You’ll be browning the turkey with some onions and garlic first; secondly, you’ll add the other ingredients and stir. Then you will set it to slow cook and relax.

Turkey and Sweet Potato Chili

Ingredients

  • 1 small onion diced

  • 1 garlic clove

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 pound ground turkey

  • 3 tomatoes diced

  • 1 can of black beans

  • 1 can of red kidney beans

  • 4 medium sweet potatoes

  • 2 cups of chicken broth (more if you like it soupier)

  • 2 tsp chili powder

  • 1 tsp oregano

  • 1 tsp cumin

  • 3/4 tsp chipotle powder

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Optional Toppings- cilantro, avocado, shredded cheese

Directions

  • In a medium saucepan or instant pot set to sautee, heat up olive oil
  • Add in turkey to brown and break it up with a spoon. Cook for about 5-7 min
  • Add in onions & garlic and cook for about 6-8 minutes until onions are translucent
  • Add in tomatoes, beans, and sweet potatoes, and stir to combine
  • Add in chicken broth and spices
  • Set the slow cooker to 6-7 hours
  • Serve with optional toppings ( We used Vegan Cheese & Avocado)
